Healthcare Can’t Wait

The South has the nation’s highest uninsured rates, overwhelming rates of poverty, chronic health conditions, and racial health inequities. Southerners are organizing to show the nation that we can unite to ensure affordable healthcare for our people and fight the legacy of slavery and racial injustice that has plagued our region.

Need for Care

Need for Care

There has never been a more dire moment for the Southerners for Medicaid Expansion coalition to unite and fight for our people. The South has the nation’s highest uninsured rates, overwhelming rates of poverty, chronic health conditions, and racial health inequities.

Gaining Coverage

Gaining Coverage

With over 1.5 million COVID-19 cases, and 49 rural hospital closures since 2014, expanding Medicaid would allow nearly 7 million people who are uninsured to gain coverage in these eight states that have denied health coverage to their residents.

Take Action Now

CONTACT YOUR OFFICIALS

The time is NOW for Congress and the Biden Administration to intervene and create a permanent and comprehensive federal solution that provides affordable health insurance coverage for millions of Americans throughout these non-expansion states!
