Build Back Better Postcard Campaign

Many of you have likely seen that Senator Manchin is uncertain about his vote for the Build Back Better Reconciliation Bill as it currently stands. As we wait to see the true meaning of his statements, we invite you to join us in writing postcards to give resolve and encouragement to our legislative champions as they continue to fight for the federal coverage gap fix.

After weeks of negotiations in Congress, the Build Back Better Reconciliation Bill passed through the House of Representatives with a provision that will close the coverage gap through 2025 for 2.2 million Americans in the 12 states that haven’t expanded Medicaid.

  • Thank them, for working hard thus far to pass Build Back Better, especially for including a coverage gap fix
  • State your ask
e.g. We ask that you continue to prioritize closing the coverage gap so that people with low-incomes in my home state of _____________ have a pathway to coverage through Build Back Better.
  • Share why closing the coverage gap is important to you. If you or someone you know is in the coverage gap, we strongly encourage you to share your experience! Sample talking points:

    • Our communities, especially parents and youth, cooks and teachers, caretakers and essential workers, have suffered too long without affordable, comprehensive health care.
    • Too many have already died in the coverage gap. We can’t wait any longer.
  • Call them to action
e.g. This year, as you celebrate the holidays with your family, please keep our communities in mind and stay strong in the fight to ensure every American can get health coverage in January 2022—no matter their race, income, or zip code.
  • e.g. People across America are looking to policymakers like you to provide the security the Build Back Better Act delivers so they can stay healthy, prosper and thrive.
